Paint Parties and End of Summer
I cannot believe summer is over and how fast the last 4 months have gone. The studio is doing well for being so new. I try to let everyone know this is a Paint and Sip, or Wine and Canvas type venue. It's important they know they can enjoy sipping a glass of wine they bring in, while relaxing and painting their masterpiece - or creating their hand built ceramic piece.
The pottery studio is really starting to catch on. I've had customers every Wednesday the last few weeks. For those who don't know, Wednesdays are designated for hand building pottery - at least for now. That may change over time.
Exciting things are starting to happen for the studio. We have our first fund raiser tomorrow night on September 30. All 20 seats are sold at $100 each! That is so exciting! The studio will donate 10% of net sales to the non-profit organization PEP (Providers Empowering Providers).
On Friday we are attending our first Chamber Luncheon where the studio will be introduced. I will keep everyone posted on our upcoming Red Carpet Event.
This coming Sunday we have our first children's birthday party. I can't wait to paint with the little ones! And, when I say little, I mean 4 and 5 year olds! A few days later we have (what I would call) a team building event. Corrections Officers from across the state are driving in and attending a 2 hour painting event in our studio. We are painting a "Night Sky" where the painter can customize it with their own constellation pattern. It's a very cool painting so I will include it here.
Also, earlier that day I am speaking at MOM's group. They have chosen to have their meeting at our studio. They will have their little ones with them and we will be doing a quick art activity after I speak to them about who I am and why I opened the studio.
For Art, Design & Dine this month, October 9th from 5-8 pm, we are featuring artist Tracy Clark. She is a mixed-media artist and has some very cool stuff. We are also showing the work of our consignment artist Tarrell Gardner with her line of revitalized jewelry called "Revivify". Another very cool part of ADD this month is singer/songwriter Camille Garcia. She will be entertaining us with her beautiful music! Can't wait to hear what she has in store for us.
Towards the end of the month we are hosting another fund raising paint party for the same non-profit PEP. Can't wait to see if all the seats get filled up for that! On the 31st we are having our very first theme party in celebration of the Mexican tradition for the "Day of the Dead". Our next theme party will be in November - Greek Night! Opa!
All in all, this is a very exciting time for us! We look forward to seeing all of you at ADD. Please stop by the studio anytime just to check us out! Our hours are Wednesday through Friday from noon until the last painter/potter leaves!
